Robert and I are both graduates of Cass Technical High School in Detroit, MI. However, we are members of different graduating classes. In 2008, we both attended an alumni function held in Atlanta, GA where we both reside. I was reluctant to attend because my friends had prior commitments and I wasn't sure if would know anybody else. I decided to go and leave quickly if the event was a snoozer. Upon arriving, I met a few of Robert's classmates and spent the night making new friends. They were patiently awaiting his arrival but he was running a little late. Once Robert arrived, he asked me to take a picture with him because I have such a beautiful smile. After chatting for a bit, I gave him my number and headed home. We kept in contact from time to time and developed a friendship but sparks didn't fly. In 2009, we were chatting on Facebook and I told him that my birthday plans fell apart. He offered to take me wherever I wanted to go to make up for my disrupted plans. I chose the Frank Sinatra inspired musical, "Come Fly with Me." We met for dinner and headed to the theater. We had a fabulous time and it became obvious to both of us that our friendship was becoming a romance. From that point on, we began dating and the rest as they say "is history". We are so grateful that God has allowed us to cross paths and pray his blessing upon our marriage. |
